People in HR jobs asked for opinion on PAYE
Individuals in HR jobs are among those being consulted by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) on the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system.
The taxation authority is looking to improve the existing arrangements for PAYE and is inviting managers, as well as people in HR jobs or accounting jobs who work on payroll duties, to express their opinions.
"We want to explore how the PAYE system could be improved to make it easier for employers and HMRC to administer," says Stephen Banyard, director of the business customer unit at HMRC.
He adds that the feedback from people who use the PAYE system on a daily basis is to help the authority learn more about their views of real-time information collection.
The government's public-facing advisory site Directgov explains that PAYE is the form of tax applied to the incomes of employed people, while self-employed individuals are asked to fill in a self-assessment form.
