How to get your dream job
Although many people continually strive to find their 'dream job', few actually have an idea of what such a role might actually comprise.
For some, flexibility is everything whilst for others, a clear personal development path offering the shortest route to promotion is far more important. Some individuals are motivated by the opportunities offered through working for a large organisation whilst others see the possibilities in a smaller company as being more attractive. Whether it's money, travel, benefits, challenge or indeed other criteria, Poolia believes in helping candidates to find their dream role.
Planning is an essential part of every job search, so candidates might start with careful consideration of what is most important from the next and future roles in broad terms, such as those above. That done, is the current direction going to result in the desired outcome?
The next step is to ensure CVs and covering letters make the most of the attributes that are going to be most highly valued by an employer offering the dream role. Advance planning about likely interview questions and potential answers that put these same characteristics forward is also advisable.
Through structured planning and search, Poolia has helped many candidates to find their dream opportunity. Register now to see how Poolia could help you.
A recruiter's top five tips
1. Be informed and prepared. Planning and research invariably makes an excellent impression - as do relevant questions which convey interest and an understanding.
2. Be as honest as possible. Honesty can minimise problems that could otherwise arise at a later date.
3. Don't speak negatively. Describe negative experiences in a positive way, including what has been learnt from setbacks. In particular, don't speak negatively about previous employers.
4. Offer insight. If asked about any negative personality traits, be prepared to provide examples and try to avoid clichés such as "I'm ambitious".
5. Dress appropriately. Ensure that that the attire is suitable and appropriate for the potential employer's company culture. If in doubt, dress more formally rather than less formally - or seek advice from Poolia.
