What our staff have to say about working for Poolia
Olivia Yost - Poolia Business Development Director
After leaving university I started what was meant to be a summer job working in sales for an estate agency in London. Two years later, having surprised myself at how much I enjoyed sales I was looking for a more challenging career direction and spoke to friends who worked in recruitment and who encouraged me to consider opportunities in recruitment. Having done a little bit of research into what recruitment was all about I applied for a couple of jobs with specialist recruitment firms - I wanted to build experience within a professional market and was particularly interested in recruiting for the Financial Services industry.
I found out about Poolia (then known as Parker Bridge) through an advert for trainee recruiters in The Guardian newspaper and having sent off my CV decided to pluck up the courage and follow up with a phone call to see if my application had been successful. I can still recall being transferred to one of the directors and being put on the spot there and then with a telephone role play. This resulted in me being invited in for a face to face interview - more role plays, more probing questions but I came away with a very positive feeling both about the company and the opportunity, I remember thinking "I have to get that job!"
During the interview I clearly recall the directors sat in front of me describing the opportunities within the business and how it was their vision that one day I could be in their shoes. This ethos hasn't changed and as I always say to potential consultants/managers who I interview that there is no restriction on how quickly and to what level you can progress within Poolia; the opportunities are there for everyone who consistently proves themselves and wants to continue to develop their skills.
Vinesh Solanki - Managing Consultant
After graduating from Middlesex University with a degree in IT, I felt this was the most obvious path to follow. After working for a global pharmaceutical company in the IT team, it became apparent that sitting behind a computer screen writing software development code was not for me.
Going back to a part time job I had while at colleague, I realised sales would be a more suited career option for me and my personality but wanted to stay within the IT Industry.
I was presented with two opportunities, IT Sales or IT Recruitment. My brother at the time was in Recruitment and making very good money so I decided to pursue the IT Recruitment. After working for a year in IT recruitment for a small firm in Reading, I wanted to move into the city and work for a bigger, more professional organisation that had structure and progression for its employees.
To be honest I had never heard of Poolia (Parker Bridge in those days) but decided to go for the interview experience and was instantly met by the Recruitment Manager and various consultants at different levels. After a further 2 interviews I was offered the job but was torn between Poolia and 3 other organisations. I decided to accept the offer from Poolia based on the culture of the organisation and the people I had met. I have now been with Poolia for five years and have never looked back on my choice to work for Poolia. It is an excellent place to work; the Managers and Directors have a very "open door" policy and are always on hand to help.
Emma Wright - Poolia Candidate Consultant
I joined Poolia three years ago. I was referred to Poolia by an employee as I was looking for a career change. She talked me through the job itself, what a day consisted of and the targets. I got to meet a few other employees who already worked for Poolia prior to my interview and thought it sounded like a great place to work. I chose recruitment as a career as I had spent a lot of time dealing with people in a more customer service focused role as well as sales and enjoyed that aspect of the role and needed a new challenge.
I chose Poolia as an employer as it is an international company and offers a lot of room for progression. The Poolia management team offer constant support and like to help employees progress their career and develop their strengths. It is a great place to work!
